St. Ann's Women's Auxiliary Council recently sponsored a fund raiser speakers event for the Mount Carmel Foundation. Mary Mitchell, a long time CPA at Ron Lykins CPA's is Treasurer of the Auxiliary and an active member. Our CPA firm was one of the sponsors for the 2015 Signature Speaker Event: Brain on Fire, an Evening with Susannah Cahalan. Brain on Fire is a riveting story of Susanna's unique and severe illness that was almost impossible to diagnosis. Although extremely sick her MRI/s, brain scans and blood tests were unexceptional. Ms. Cahalan had symptoms of bipolar and schizophrenia that proved to be wrong.
Find out what the surprise disease turned out to be by reading Brain on Fire which can be purchased at Barnes and Noble (www.barnesandnoble.com) or Amazon (www.Amazon.com ). You can read a book review at The New York Times (http://nyti.ms/URJUED) This is a fascinating and must read for any one concerned about the health of their children or loved ones. Susannah vividly demonstrates the vital importance of continuing to pursue answers to your medical conditions even if the Doctors say, “there is nothing physically wrong with you.” You know when something is amiss with your own body. Secondly, it shows the imperative importance of second opinions.
